Reality TV programmes

Reality programmes are something that families love. They're often competitions and are entertainment for families, although there is also voting involved. Many call to vote but are actually spending money on it, often that's how these shows get the money and profit that they need. The viewers of these shows are very strong fans of the competitors and would do anything to get them more votes, they would do this by making facebook groups and spreading the word. Although when it comes to the end decision it's obvious that a competitor got more votes than another, although the judges may not like them because of their attitude or because of things that happen backstage. This makes people think about reality TV shows and if they're "fixed" or not and less start voting and start thinking, after all it is their money that they're spending when voting for the person. I think that they are hoaxed sometimes because of backstage incidents or that the judges just disagree to the viewer's views and votes.

Practice Film Poster

We did this by following instructions our teacher gave us, we used photoshop CS3 to make this and used the gradient tools and used some layer tools too. The aim was to make the poster look professional and as romantic as possible and it also tested our skills too.

My Film Idea

The genre of the film is action.
The age rating rating is 15.
The target audience is teenagers aged 12-16, male, hobbies would be hanging around with friends and going out and playing video games, interests would be in girls and guns.
My film location would be at isolated island of the cuban coast.
The characters would be a man who was in a covert ops who took out a high rep terrorist group and shut them down, he is a very good gentlemen and is modest and calm. He is going to be called Jack Bishop and is 32 years old. He has a wife who is young and pretty and has a very friendly personality and she is called Jessica Reed and is 29 years old and they have an daughter who is only 6 years old and is called Hellen Bishop.

Jack Bishop was a veteran in the covert ops and was the best. Although he took out a high rep terrorist group called "Flint". The Flint look for revenge and take hostage of his wife and daughter in exchange for all of his money and information about his recent operations. Jack is confused on what to do and is put through a traumatizing decision as he either gets the info and money or his wife and daughter, he is afraid that The Reapers will kill his wife and daughter even though he will get the money and info. So he does what he is trained to do and goes undercover tracking down his wife and daughter through all kinds of environments. He goes through all sorts of action that all male teenagers would like and also is put down into final decision when he finds out that his wife and daughter is hooked up to explosives.

Conventions of a Horror Movie

In a horror film you would find that they use the colors Red, black, white and orange. In horror to make it effective the scenes would normally be in the night, so it shows darkness and pitch black not knowing whats out there. If the characters were trapped it would be more effective to scare the audience because they have no escape and that there isn't going to be a good ending either and it could build up tension for a bigger jump. The costumes would be casual clothes for the person or group of people running from the killer or villain of the film, if it was the evil in the film it would be anything depending on what it is e.g monster, serial killer, demon. The actors would have a very sinister face when acting and can really look into the eyes of a killer or villain e.g Jackie Earle Haley, Ashley Bell. The conventional characters would be a demon, serial killer or monster normally it would be a group of character running away instead of just one. Also the examples of films would be Nightmare on Elm Street, The Last Exorcism, Paranormal Activity, Friday 13th.

Different Film Marketing Methods and what they are suitable for

The marketing methods I can remember from today are:
Film posters,
Trailers,
Clothes,
Video Games,
Documentary on the film,
Film websites.

Today I learned that some film marketing methods are suited to particular audiences. For example: Creating a poster for a film is best suited to a film whose audience is more going out because they will see the posters around more frequently than people who stay inside. Another example is, that creating a film website for a film is best suited to a film audience that go on the internet more because they would surf the internet and would found out more info through the film websites.

Today I learned that some film marketing methods are suited to particular genres of film. For example: Having a video game for a film best suited to a film which is from the action genre because you get to replay what they did in the film and actually feel like your doing it instead of them which you wouldn't normally be able to do. Another example is, that having a trailer for a film is best suited to a film which is from the horror genre because it gives you a taste of the horror in the film and if its in 1st person it could give an effect that its actually you.

Marketing Campaigns

Viral:
Viral campaigns are campaigns that are spread through the internet and social networking life facebook and you tube. Loads of people use youtube and facebook so they see it every day it also spreads from word of mouth-to-mouth talking, as they can chat about it because they can relate because they have both seen the youtube and facebook promotion.
File:LogoYoutube2011.svg

High Budget:
High budget campaigns are when they are made with a lot of money in different and many sets and very famous actors. The sets could be anywhere and could cost some money to get to, also effects that are included in the films need to be done by a good graphics designer and this means that high budget films have a good cast.

Low Budget Campaigns

  • Low budget films would have a very small budget.
  • Low budget marketing campaigns are campaigns that have a low budget to spend on the film and marketing, because they're made on a low budget the camera's and don't have great marketing campaign as the high budget films.
  •  Shank
  • Kidulthood
  • Paranormal Activity
  • Low budget films:
Pros:
Wont coast a lot.
Get a good profit

Cons:
That they may not have many sets

Film Marketing Research

1.) Film marketing means that audiences will know the film through promotion. Studios would use expensive campaigns to promote there film as this greatly increases the profit, as promoting a film early would increase the awareness of the audience towards the film.

2.) A film poster is a way of prmoting films. They normally show the title of the film, a picture of characters in the film or an picture which represents the film, age rating, actors, directors and producers. They show this information so the audience know what actors are in it, they could have actors which they may particuarly like and may see the film just because of them. Also audiences recognise the studio and may have watched their other films and like them too and may want to see their next one.
2 examples of film posters are:

I wanted to add another one.

3.) Film trailers are meant to give you a taste and a little 'sneak peak' at the content inside it, it also could interests audiences if they like that kind of genre. Trailers could also leave a little cliffhanger wanting audiences to find out what happends making them go to see the film. Also trailers have a very epic feeling to go with it if it goes with the right music and the if the atmoshpere was very well set, it also shows the actors in it. It would draw attention from the audience by different features depending on the genre.

A recent railer I have seen is The Immortals and like it because it has a war styled theme to it which I like, it also has a ancient Greece style to it because it had Gods and guardians in it. It also showed epic scenes of armies charging towards each other and made you feel like your in the middle of the war looking at it from the inside and all the details instead of just looking from a bird eyes view.

4.) Film merchandise is products that you can buy related to the film, you may want to buy merchandise because you like collecting things or maybe your a very good fan of the film or studio.
3 examples of merchandise:
Inception Top

5.) On a film website you can normally find a trailer and if the film is not out on the cinema anymore and the DVD is released. It would normally promote the DVD and tell you to buy it, it shows images and a brief story and some images too.

6.) File:Orange logo.svg
Orange promote themselves in the cinema as they made adverts to turn off your phone to not disturb the film, they also do 2 for 1 deals on every Wednesday making more people go cinema which causes more revenue.

7.)
The title of the film: Nightmare on Elm Street
Slogan: Welcome to Your New Nightmare.
Colours: The colors show red and and black their connotations are death, blood, murder, horror, scary, plague, moody, scared, frightened.
Font: The font looks tarnished and is red showing struggle and murder and blood.
Images: Its got the villain in a wise, intimidating pose.

My idea for an advert

I think i would sell headphones, my best unique selling point would be its light weight, durability but can still have big bass and high quality sound. I would have top star celebrities that are well known eg. Bruno Mars, Eminem, Rihanna or even David Guetta who is a good DJ and does good remixes too. I would do this as it would inspire people to get the same headphones as there role models. My company name would be called Beats as it shows we are into the music industry and it is also a simple thing in music and thats its not too complicated. I would use black and silver for my main themes but i would have different colours on our website for people who dont like our theme and want to customize it. It would be targeted from teenagers that like to show off to adults who travel a lot for work. It has good style so that kids can show off to there friends and for adults its very durable and portable.

Adverts for headphones

By Sleek Audio
I like that is has a nice black theme with different shades showing that it sleek and professional, I also like there slogan 'Escape into your music' It shows that you can chill out and start listening to music to escape from stress or other things. I also like the art work around the title and the creator's name, it has the same theme as the headphones and a nice blue colour keeping 3 simple colours in the poster. They're very big over ear headphones showing that it could give very good bass, so it would be a good DJ headphones. I think it should be for teenagers as they're very stylish and sleek.
By DeviantArt

I like this advert because it has a black and white theme to it keeping it simple, I also like the title because it make the 'O' into a headphone showing creativity. The headphones are floating so it could show that they're very light i also like the reflection that comes of the bottom of the poster. It shows that it is light and could be good for an advert where you could travel anywhere with them. I think this should be for men with jobs that ravel a lot as this will help them.

Convention of Adverts

Advert Analyzing

I think its target audience is for woman who are planning or are thinking about getting married.
The unique selling point of this advert is that the woman on the cake is too heavy for the cake suggesting that she hasnt used Slim Fast so she should use it to become slimmer and lose more weight so it be better fir the wedding.
They would be interested in this advert because they can lose weight for their wedding.
The colours in this advert are happy and bright colours because its trying to represent a wedding.

Face Edit

Before
After

I used the patch tool to take away the wrinkles under his eyes, first i selected the wrinkles and dragged my cursor to select a different part of his skin and it replaced it with that. Another tool i used was the pen tool to select the eye, i done this by clicking around the eye's border and once i done that i changed the colour of the eye with 'Colour Balance' this brings up a panel where you can edit the colour. I also used spot healing tool which lets you take away the spots by replacing it with nearby skin texture nearby, to do this you just have to click that spot.

Teenagers (conclusion)

I think teenagers are often portrayed as bad people in the media, although some teenagers out there are actually what is said in the stereotypes. Media has put a bad name on teenagers just because of this small minority of them causing trouble, there's also not that many tv shows and films that portray teenagers as 'good' people.

Teenagers (News)

M1 motorway fire

10 teenagers are accused of causing a scrapyard fire which closed down a 6.5 mile stretch of M1 this shows that teenagers are getting in all sorts of trouble, causing vandalism, traffic and making everyone on the M1 waste their time. They even got thrown into Wood Green Crown Court.

Firefighters at work in the Blue Mountains.

This was a fire made by a a teenager, 13, and a 19 year old. They made incendiary devices to burn the forrest down, they were arrestsed at a home they both shared, they were both questioned and the police believed that there are more people involved.

Three of the teenagers leave court

A gang of teenagers have been arrested and put into prison for 16 years for doing more than 90 offences in the space of 13 months. It was said that a teenager aged 14 has commited 32 offences that were mostly committed when he was 13 and is jailed for 3 years.

Teenagers (TV Shows)

Inbetweeners shows how teenagers are very immature side of teenagers and how they act like in school. This doesnt show the stereotypical teenager but sshows how dumb they can get. For example Neal is shown a stupid and dumb, he always points out the obvious like its new to everyone he knows.

Misfits is about a group of teenagers that get powers and shows how they get on with there lifes but also showing strange bumps and obstacles on the way and also includes loads of drama too. They portray the teenagers as teenagers learning how to gain responsibility and maturity.

File:Skins.svg

Skins is teenage drama and portrays the teenagers as them as aggressive people and also about they act around each other and what they do in a every day life.

Teenagers ( Films )

Teenagers are normally seen as knife-weilding, aggressive and crazy. Also that they would rob any shop in sight, well that is not exactly true and majority of teenagers are not like that.

Although in Kidulthood it is shown that some teenagers are actually what the stereotypes describe them as.

File:Attack The Block 2.jpg

Attack the block is about a gang fighting off aliens so in this the teenagers are described to be violent as they kill the aliens with knifes and that they're gangs nearly everywhere as 2 gangs are represented in it.

File:Shankposter1.jpg
Shank is about gangs figthing each other as teenagers, its very violent and also has a lot of murder too this shows the stereotypical type of teenagers.
